Laura Cristina Figueroa Villarreal grew up in a small border town (Zapata, Texas).  It was not until the year 1997 that she moved with her family to the city of San Antonio.  She attended Clark High School in San Antonio, Texas graduating in the top 5% of her class.  She later went on to pursue her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology at the University of Texas at San Antonio where she graduated Magna Cum Laude with Tier 2 Honors from the Honors College in December 2003.  After graduating from college, Mrs. Figueroa Villarreal interned with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, Center for Substance Abuse Treatment located in the state of Maryland.

 

In the fall of 2004, Mrs. Figueroa Villarreal pursued her Juris Doctorate at Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law in Dallas, Texas where she graduated in May 2007.  During law school, Mrs. Figueroa Villarreal interned with the Honorable Micaela Alvarez, District Court Judge for the Southern District of Texas, Laredo Division.  Mrs. Figueroa Villarreal also interned with the Honorable Judge Deitrich Sims and the Honorable Judge Anthony Rogers at the Executive Office for Immigration Review in Dallas, Texas.

 

Mrs. Figueroa Villarreal became a duly licensed attorney in the State of Texas in November 2007 and immediately began practicing immigration law.  Her experience in the immigration context is vast and includes experience in removal/deportation proceedings before the Executive Office for Immigration Review, visa petitions including employment-based petitions and family-based petitions, experience with U visas and Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals.

 

Mrs. Figueroa Villarreal is a member of the State Bar of Texas and is licensed in the United States District Court for both the Southern and Western District of Texas.   She is also a member of the San Antonio Mexican American Bar Association, State Bar of Texas Immigration and Nationality Law Section and the American Lawyers Immigration Association (AILA).

 

In 2010, Mrs. Figueroa Villarreal decided to become a solo practitioner and opened her own practice focusing on immigration law.  To date, Mrs. Figueroa Villarreal’s practice is thriving and she looks forward to continued success helping those in need including those who are disadvantaged.
